Ingredients

  • 6 chicken breasts (bone in)
  • 2 ) 2 bunch celery, sliced thin
  • 3 ) 3 large onion, chopped
  • 4 ) 4 packages Louisiana Gumbo
  • 5 ) 2 pounds smoked sausage (chopped)
  • 6 ) 1 jar chicken base (16 oz)
  • 7 ) 2 packages baby okra, sliced (4 cups)
  • 8 ) 4 cups medium shrimp, cooked and deveined
  • 9 ) 4 cups water
  • 10 ) 1 pound rotini pasta noodles, cooked

Preparation

Step 1

In large stockpot, cook chicken breast covered with water. Cook over medium heat until tender. Remove chicken to another bowl to cool and debone. To stock add onions and celery. Bring to boil. Turn to low heat. Add sausage, gumbo mix, and chicken base. Add 4 cups water. Simmer 1 hour stirring occasionally. Add okra and shrimp when ready to serve. Stir together. Add cooked pasta last. Add more water if too thick or seems to salty.
