  • 1 loaf French bread
  • butter for pan
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 c. half and half
  • 1 c. milk
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. nutmeg
  • dash salt

  • Praline topping
  • ½ lb. (2 sticks) butter
  • 1 c. packed light brown sugar
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 2 Tbsp light corn syrup
  • ½ tsp. cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. nutmeg



Step 1

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and blend well. Spread over bread as directed.
Slice French bread into 1” thick slices. Arrange bread in 9 x 13 pan putting pieces very close to each other.

In large bowl, combine eggs, half and half, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt and mix until well blended. Pour mixture over the bread slices, making sure all are covered evenly with the milk-egg mixture. Spoon some of the mixture in between the slices. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.

The next day, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spread praline topping evenly over the bread and bake for 45-55 minutes, until puffed and lightly golden. Serve with syrup if desired.
