Apple Brown Betty

Ingredients

  • 10 - 12 apples, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • Juice of 1/2 a lemon

Preparation

Step 1

Combine the flour, brown sugar, and cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Set aside.

To make the syrup, combine the sugar, hot water, and lemon juice; stir well and set aside.

Arrange the apple slices onto the bottom of a lightly greased 12 x 9 inch pan and sprinkle with cinnamon and drizzle with half the syrup. cover with the topping mixture and then drizzle with remaining syrup. Bake at 350 degrees for 60 minutes.
