Honey Walnut Swirl Loaf

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 ½ cup butter
  • 1/4 ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 pkg. yeast dissolved in ¼ cup warm water
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 4 – 4 ½ cups flour
  • 1/2 ½ cup honey
  • 1/2 ½ cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 ¾ cup coarsely chopped nuts

Preparation

Step 1

Combine the milk, ¼ cup butter, sugar, and salt. Cook over medium heat until butter is melted and then place into a mixing bowl. When mixture is warm add the dissolved yeat and beaten eggs. Add 2 cups flour and beat with a wooden spoon until soft. Slowly blend in additional flour and knead until smooth and soft. Place in a greased bowl and raise until double. Grease a loaf pan.

In a pan, combine ¼ cup butter and honey. Heat gently until the butter is melted. Punch dough. Roll dough into a 9 x 14 inch rectangle. Spread the dough with the honey mix, up to 1 inch of the edge. Sprinkle dough with brown sugar and nuts. With the short side, roll up to the centre. Repeat. Cover and set aside. When double bake at 375 degrees for 35 – 45 minutes.
