Strawberry Angel Food Dessert

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg angel food mix
  • 2 boxes (10 oz each) frozen sliced strawberries
  • 1 box strawberry jello
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 cup heavy cream, whipped
  • Whole fresh strawberries, washed and hulled

Preparation

Step 1

Prepare cake mix as directed on package, baking in 10" tube pan.

Cool, thaw berries, drain, reserving syrup.

Dissolve gelatin and sugar in hot water. Add 1 cup reserved syrup. Chill until slightly thickened.

Cut cake in 1" pieces. Arrange half in 13" x 9" x 2" pan or dish.

Fold drained berries into slightly thickened gelatin. Pour about half gelatin mixture over cake in dish. Top with remaining cake, then with rest of gelatin. Chill until set.

Whip cream and spread on top of dessert. Cut into 15 squares. Serve with garnish of fresh strawberries.
