Denise's Abalone

This recipe describes how to prepare abalone to keep it from being tough after cooking.

Ingredients

  • Look for good quality, fresh abalone and figure on about 1 medium-sized abalone per person.

  • bread crumbs
  • olive oil
  • lemon slices

Preparation

Step 1

Slice the abalone thin and then pound it a bit with a meat hammer with waxed paper over the abalone until it thins out a bit more but not so that it falls apart.

Dip the abalone in egg and then in bread crumbs (Italian Seasoned bread crumbs are preferred).

Fry on medium heat in enough olive oil so that the abalone is covered but not floating.

Serve with lemon slices and juice to really bring out the abalone flavor.
