Basic All Purpose Baking Mix

Can be used to make biscuits, pancakes, waffles or dumplings

Ingredients

  • 6 c flour
  • 3 T baking powder
  • 1 t salt
  • 1&1/4 c margarine

Preparation

Step 1

Baking Mix:
Stir flour, baking powder and salt in bowl. Add margarine. Mix like pie crust. Keeps in fridge for 2 months.

Biscuits:
Mix together 2&1/4 c mix and 2/3 c milk. Knead 10 x on floured surface. Roll with rolling pin to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into biscuits.
Bake 325 for 10 to 2 minutes - Makes 10

Pancakes:
Mix together 2 c mix, 2 eggs and c milk. Do not over-mix. Pour vegetable oil into frypan and pour batter into hot oil. Once bubbles appear on top, flip pancake to cook other side. Once other side rises a bit, remove from pan. Makes 14 pancakes

Waffles:
Mix together 2 c mix, 1&1/3 c milk, 1 egg and 2T vegetable oil. Pour into waffle maker to cook.

Dumplings:
Mix together 2 c mix and 2/3 c milk till sticky dough is formed. Drop by spoonful into hot liquid and cook for 10 minutes. Makes 10.
