Ingredients
- 1 loaf (1 lb) bread dough
- 2 c. thinly sliced onion
- 1/4 c. butter
- 6 oz Steakums
- 1 tsp flour
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp salt and pepper
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 3/4 cup shredded Monterey Jack
- 6 Tbsp grated Parmesan/divided
- 1 can beef au jus or powder made up

Preparation
Step 1
Saute onion in butter for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove onion and cook steak. Return onion add flour, brown sugar, cumin and S & P. Add broth. Cook and stir 6-8 minutes until liquid evaporates. Place bread on greased baking sheet. Cover with beef mixture. Sprinkle with Monterey Jack and 4 Tbsp Parmesan. Cut dough on each side of beef filling into 1 3/4 inches wide strips. Fold strips alternately across filling. Sprinkle with Parmesan. let rise for 30 minutes. Bake 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
