Ingredients

  • 1 pkg yeast
  • 1 cup luke warm water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 5 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder for each cup of flour

Preparation

Step 1

In a bowl add yeast to water, dissolve completely; add eggs, milk and sugar.

Stir until mixture starts to foam; add flour, salt and baking powder; mix to a thick dough. Let set for 15 minutes.

Place on floured board and roll out 1/4 inch thick and cut into 4 X 4 pieces. Fry in hot oil (450-500°) until golden brown.

Remove from fryer and drain on paper towels.

Can be served plain, with honey or rolled in sugar and cinnamon mixture.
