Banana Cream Pie Filling


My mom's famous banana cream pie was a favorite at our house. My children love it.

  • 1/3 c flour
  • 2/3 c sugar
  • 1/4 teas salt
  • 2 c milk, scaled
  • 2 T butter
  • 3 egg yolks, beaten
  • 1/2 T vanilla
  • 1 baked pie crust
  • 1-8oz cool whip
  • 4-6 bananas

Step 1

Add flour, sugar and salt to scalded milk and stir over med-low heat. Add butter and when that is dissolved, pour in egg yolks. Keep stirring, pudding will thicken, make sure it is not burning on bottom of pan. When pudding is thick add vanilla.

Let filling cool.

Slice 2-3 three bananas and put in pie crust. pour half the filling over and slice 2-3 more bananas then put the rest of the filling on top. Top with cool whip and put in refrigerator until ready to serve.
