Ingredients
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees, prepare a 2 quart baking dish, about 2 inches deep. Peel and cover:
- 2 1/2 2 ½ lbs. apples, cut in half and then in chunks
- Spread the apples evenly on a baking dish and combine:
- 3/4 ¾ cup flour
- 3/4 ¾ cup sugar
- Salt
- 1/2 ½ tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 ¼ tsp. nutmeg
- Add:
- 8 tbs. cold butter, cut into small pieces

Cut butter into the dry ingredients until the mix resembles coarse crumbs. Scatter the topping evenly over the fruit. Top the dish to settle fruit and crumbs; bake until golden and bubbly; 50 – 55 minutes.
