  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/3 cup (or half and half) undiluted evaporated milk
  • 2 cups icing sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla or 1/2 tsp maple extract



Step 1

Melt butter in saucepan. Remove from heat, add brown sugar and stir until smooth. Bring to a boil and cook 1 minute, stirring constantly; remove from heat and cool to 110F (lukewarm). Beat icing sugar into warm mixture until thick; add extract. Set in a bowl of ice water and stir until spreading consistancy.
