WESTINGHOUSE GRIDDLE CAKES

This recipe, that came in the cookbook for our 1950's Westinghouse stove, is the recipe our parents used for hot cakes as we were growing up.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbs. sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 1/4 c. sweet milk
- 3 Tbs. melted shortening

Step 1
Sift flour, measure, then sift again with baking powder, salt and sugar. Combine egg, milk and shortening, add to dry ingredients, stir until smooth. Drop by tablespoonsful on hot griddle.
