Spaghetti Pie

This is a great dish to prepare before your dinner guest comes. A different take on traditional Italian taste.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz. spaghetti
  • 2 T butter
  • 2 well-beaten eggs
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1 lb. Italian Sausage mild or hot skinned
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup bell pepper
  • 1 8 oz can tomatoes, cut up
  • 1 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 1 t. sugar
  • 1 t. Basil or Oregano
  • 1/2 t. garlic salt
  • 1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 small can of black olives pitted (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Cook spaghetti according to package directions and drain (should be 3 cups). Stir margarine into hot spaghetti. Stir beaten eggs and Parmesan cheese. form spaghetti mixture into crust in greased 10" pie plate. Spread with cottage cheese. In skillet cook Italian Sausage, onion and pepper till sausage brown and vegetables tender. Drain off fat. Stir in un-drained tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, basil and garlic salt. Heat through. Turn sausage mixture into spaghetti crust. Bake uncovered at 350 for 20 minutes. Sprinkle with Mozzarella cheese. Bake till melted, about 5 minutes. Garnish with pitted black olives around the pie.
