Ingredients
- 1 quart sweet milk
- 2 eggs (room temperature), beaten
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 1/4 stick margarine
- few grains nutmeg
- handful raisins
- 20 oz. bag stale bread broken into pieces
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Scald milk and butter. Add sugar, flavoring, and nutmeg. Gently whisk in beaten eggs. Mix well. Pour mixture into a large mixing bowl. Add bread. Mash the bread down into the liquid. Add the raisins and mix well. Lightly butter a 9 x 13 silver-colored aluminum pan. Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes.
