Cabbage Rolls

  • 1 medium cabbage
  • 1 1/2 lbs. hamburger
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 1 1/2 tsp seasoned salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 - 3/4 cup uncooked rice
  • dash of HP sauce or Worcestershire sauce
  • tomato juice
  • bay leaves



Step 1

Core cabbage. Put in hot water to loosen leaves. Cook about 2 or 3 leaves at a time in boiling salted water for approximately 3 minutes. Drain.

Mix hamburger, onion, salt, pepper, rice and sauce together and form into rolls about 2" long. Place meat rolls in centre of each leaf; fold in ends and roll. Secure with toothpick. Place seam side down in shallow pan. COver with tomato juice and sprinkle with broken bay leaves over top.

Cover tightly with tinfoil and bake at 350 for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. WIll freeze very well.
