Hot Fudge Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 package (8oz) unsweetened chocolate baking squares
  • ½ cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/8 tsp salt

Preparation

Step 1

Melt chocolate and butter in a large heavy saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly. Add 2 cups sugar, and cook, stirring constantly, 30 seconds or until blended. Add milk, and cook stirring constantly, 3 minutes or until thoroughly heated and sugar is dissolved. (Do not boil.) Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla extract and salt. Cover and chill sauce up to 2 weeks

Expresso-Hot Fudge Sauce: Add 2 Tbsp instant expresso with sugar.
Whiskey-Hot Fudge Sauce: Stir in 3 Tbsp Southern Comfort with vanilla and salt.
Brown Sugar-Cinnamon Hot Fudge Sauce: Substitute 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar for 1 cup granulated sugar. Stir in ½ tsp ground cinnamon with vanilla and salt.
