Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 large egg
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup minced onion
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 garlic cloves, minced, divided
- 1 (8 oz) package, or 2 cups sliced mushrooms
- 1 cup thinly sliced onion1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sherry
- 1 cup beef broth
- Salt and pepper to taste

1. In a medium bowl, mix together the beef, egg, pepper, breadcrumbs, minced onion, Worcestershire sauce, and 1 garlic clove. Shape into 3 1/2-inch thick patties.
2. Spray a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray and place over mediu heat. Add the patties, and cook for 4 minutes on each side, until cooked through. Remove the burgers, cover, and set aside.
3. Increase heat to medium high. Add the mushrooms and sliced onions. Crush the thyme in with your fingers and cook for 3 minutes. Sprinkle with the flour and stir. Add the sherry and broth and cook for 1 minute. Season with salt and pepper, and return the burgers to the skillet. Cook for 2 minutes, until thoroughly heated through.
