Chocolate Amish Bread

This is far better than a regular chocolate cake, but is the chocolate version of the vanilla Friendship Amish Bread.
This is a 10 day process, but I have baked after 6 to 8 days.

Ingredients
- Day 1 Starter Bag:
- This is a 10 day process
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup milk
- Mix together in a Ziploc bag. Mush bag everyday
- Day 5:
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1/3 cup milk
- Day 10 (before baking):
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup milk
- Set aside 1 cup of the mix in a Ziploc bag for future baking (this can be placed in the freezer and taken out when you are ready to bake again)
- Day 10 baking:
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup oil (or 1/2 cup oil and 1/2 cup applesauce)
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tsp. cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp. peppermint extract (optional)
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 cups flour
- 1 large box instant chocolate pudding or 2 small boxes
- 1/2 bag of chocolate chips
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven at 325. Mix together ingredients of Day 10 baking. Grease and flour (if necessary) a 9 x 13 baking pan or 2 loaf pans. Pour batter evenly into the pan(s). Bake 1 hour or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool until bread loosens from pan evenly (about 10 minutes)
***This process can be reduced by several days if necessary. I have baked after 6 to 8 days.
