Ingredients
- When ready to serve, you will need:
- 5 cups old fashioned rolled oats (do not use quick cooking oats)
- 1 cup chopped nuts, such as walnuts or pecans
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup powdered nonfat milk, optional
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 Tbs ground cinnamon
- Grated zest of 1 orange
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup dried cranberries

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 300. Grease a large rimmed baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
Combine the oats and nuts.
In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the brown sugar, oil, powdered milk (if using), water, cinnamon, orange zest, vanilla, and salt. Heat, stirring, to combine.
Spread the mixture on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 40-45 min, stirring every 10-15min. Cool completely.
Freezing instruction:
Store in a plastic container or freezer bag in the freezer.
To thaw and serve:
Thaw the granola in its container on the counter. Add the cranberries right before serving.
