Ingredients
- 4 large apples
- 2 tbs. lemon juice
- 2 tsp. grated lemon zest
- 1 tbs. cinnamon
- 1/2 cup coarsley chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup honey, at room temperature
- 1/4 lb. melted butter
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp. allspice
- 1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Core and peel the apples and spread on the bottom of a generously buttered casserole dish. Sprinkle with zest and 1/2 the cinnamon and strew with walnuts. Drizzle honey over the apples.
In a bowl combine the butter, oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice, and salt.
Crumble the butter oat mixture evenly over the apples and bake until tender, about 45 minutes.
