Ingredients
- 2 sticks softened margarine
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla (or more to taste)
- 2 eggs
- 3 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 tsp. baking soda
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- 1 cups chopped nuts (optional)

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Cream together the margarine and the sugars. Add the eggs, one at a time so that they are thoroughly mixed. Add the vanilla and continue to mix all together.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda and salt. Then, with the mixer running, add a little bit of the flour mxture to the sugar mixture. Make sure the flour is mixed in well before adding more each time. When all the flour mixture is added and mixed, add the chocolate chips and nuts (if desired) with a spoon.
Drop by spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased or parchment lined cookie sheet to make each cookie. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
NOTE: Do not over bake! The cookies will look a little pale when you take them out of the oven, but once they cool, they'll be soft and yummy!
