MAINSTAY FRENCH TOAST

Ingredients

  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 2 Tbs. corn syrup
  • 2 tart apples, peeled and sliced
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 loaf French bread, cut in 3/4 inch slices
  • Apple syrup

Preparation

Step 1

Cook the sugar, butter, and syrup until syrupy. Pour into a 9 by 13 inch baking dish. Spread apple slices over the syrup. Place the bread on top of the apple slices. Whisk together the remaining ingredients and pour over the bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake, uncovered, for 40 minutes at 350°. Cut in squares and serve with maple or other syrup if desired.
