Apple Danish


Great thing about this recipe is that it tastes just as good as Apple pie, but can serve 10 times more people.

  • Pastry:
  • 3 c flour
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1 c shortening
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 c milk
  • Filling:
  • 6 c chopped apples
  • 1&1/2 c sugar
  • 1/4 c butter melted
  • 2 T flour
  • 1 t cinnamon
  • Glaze:
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/2 c icing sugar
  • 2 t water

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375

Mix on pastry. Roll out a little over half dough for base. Transfer rolled out dough into cookie sheet.

Mix filling and put on top of pastry base.

Roll out rest of dough and transfer to top of filling.
Seal edges with crimper or fork and slice air vents on top.

Brush with egg white.

Bake 375 for 40 to 50 minutes(this depends on your pastry) should be a nice gold brown.
