GUM DROP COOKIES

This recipe will always be associated with Mother and Christmas. The original recipe may have called for gum drops, but we always remember Mother using orange slices.

Ingredients

• 4 eggs
• 2 1/2 c. brown sugar
• 2 c. flour
• 1/2 c. butter
• 1 c. nuts
• 3/4 lb. (15) orange slices

Preparation

Step 1

Combine all the ingredients except the orange slices and mix well.
Cut up the orange slice candies into small pieces (sometimes scissors work better than a knife) and add to the mixture.
Bake in a 13 x 9” pan in a slow oven (325°) until the cookies shrink from the sides of the pan (approximately 35 minutes). Turn out, cut into bars, and roll each bar in powdered sugar.
