Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped ( about 1 cup)
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
- 1 teaspoon cocoa
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper sauce
- 1 can (16 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 can (15 1/2 oz) pinto beans, undrained
Preparation
Step 1
Cook and stir ground beef, onion, and garlic in heavy iron pot or saucepan until beef is brown; drain.
Stir in remaining ingredients except beans.
Heat to boiling, reduce heat.
Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, 1 hour.
Stir in beans. Heat to boiling, reduce heat.
Simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally, until of desired consistency, about 20 minutes.
