Yummy Cranberry Scones

These are yummy! The sugar/cinnamon topping just adds a nice touch and turns nice and crispy!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup plus 2 Tablespoons sugar, divided
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 cup COLD butter
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
  • 1 Tablespoon milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Preparation

Step 1

In bowl, combine flour, 1/3 cup sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Cut in the butter. Stir in buttermilk just until combined. Fold in cranberries and orange peel.

Turn onto a lightly floured surface. Divide the dough in half. Shape each piece into a 6-inch circle. Cut each circle into 6 wedges.

Place on a lightly greased baking sheet. Brush tops with milk. Combine cinnamon and remaining sugar; sprinkle over scones.

Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes ir until golden brown.
