Cafe Moka

  • 2

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp softly whipped cream, unsweetened (optional)
  • ½ cup milk
  • 4 tsp chocolate syrup
  • 6 tbsp freshly brewed espresso
  • Cocoa powder (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

1. If you have an espresso machine with a steamer and frothing (forming) attachment, steam and froth the milk following the manufacturer's directions. If you don't have an espresso machine with this attachment, you can simply heat the milk in a saucepan over high heat until scalded (when small bubbles form around the edge of the pan).

2. Spoon 2 tsps of the syrup into each of 2 warm, standard-size (5-6oz) coffee cups. Pour half of the espresso into each, top with some steamed milk, and, if desired, a dollop of whipped cream.

Tip: Flavored syrups specifically made to use with coffee are sold in some supermarkets, usually in the same aisle with the coffees, and should not be replaced with ice cream topping syrups. Monin and Torani are two well-known brands.
