Ingredients

  • 1# COOKED MACARONI

  • 2# GROUND LEAN BEEF

  • 6 T BUTTER

  • 1 C CHOPPED ONION

  • 1 T SALT

  • ½ TSP PEPPER

  • ½ TSP GROUND CINNAMON

  • 4 T TOMATO PASTE

  • 2 EGGS

  • ½ C GRATED ROMANO OR PARMEASAN CHEESE

Directions

MELT BUTTER IN A SKILLET AND SAUTEE THE ONIONS FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. ADD THE GROUND MEAT, STIRRING WELL TO BROWN A LITTLE. COVER AND COOK FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES. ADD SALT & PEPPER, CINNAMON & TOMATO PASTE AND CONTINUE TO COOK FOR ANOTHER 10 MINUTES, STIRRING TO KEEP FROM STICKING. COMBINE THIS MIXTURE WITH THE COOKED MACARONI. ADD THE GRATED CHEESE AND THE 2 UNBEATEN EGGS, BLEND WELL, USING HANDS TO MIX AND POUR INTO LIGHTLY GREASED 9X12 BAKING DISH ABOUT 4 INCHES DEEP. COVER ENENLY WITH THE SEPARATE PASTITSIO CREAM SAUCE.
