Chocolate Salted Caramel Cupcakes

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup Dutch cocoa powder
  • 1.5 cups sugar
  • 1.5 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 3 tbsp veg oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • salted caramel filling

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350. Line muffin tins with papers. Whisk together flour, cocoa, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Add eggs, buttermilk, oil, vanilla, and water. With a mixer, beat on low speed, until smooth and combined.
Scoop batter into cups, fill 2/3 full. Bake, 15 minutes. Let cool completely.
To finish, core center with a paring knife, spoon a few tsps warm filling into center, sprinkle with fleur de sel. Replace cone, top with chocolate frosting. Garnish with fleur de sel.
