Pretzels

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 package dry powdered yeast
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 4 1/2 cups flour

Preparation

Step 1

Mix water, yeast, sugar into large bowl.

Let stand for one hour.

Mix in the flour and knead mixture about 10 minutes. Place in greased bowl, cover and place in warm oven until mixture doubles. Then, make twists, place on greased cookie sheet, not too close together.

Dilute one egg yolk with 2 tsp water. Brush a thin coat on each pretzel, and sprinkle with coarse salt.

Bake 12-15 minutes at 475 degrees until golden brown.

To Twise:

1 - Take chunk of dough, roll into rope on waxed paper.

2 - Make loop by carefully picking up ends

3 - Bring left end over to right and right end under left.

4 - Bring ends over and down, press against sides of loop.
