Italian Cookies

Ingredients

  • Icing:
  • 3 1/2 c flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 sticks butter, softened
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 8 tsp milk
  • 2 c 10X sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350.
Mix all ingredients except flour in large bowl with electric mixer.
Gradually add flour.
Make small balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.
Be careful to keep the cookies from becoming too brown.
When cool, place on layers of paper towels in plastic container.
Cool completely before icing.
Mix all icing ingredients together in a saucepan with wooden spoon.
Keep stirring over low heat until smooth.
Turn off flame.
Dip cookie into icing and nonpareils, if desired.
Set until firm.
