Ingredients
- 2/3c shortening (part butter part margarine)
- 1 1/2c Flour
- 1/2c sugar
- 1/2 tsp soda
- 1/2c brown sugar (packed)
- 1/2c nuts (optional)
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 pkg.6oz. semi-sweet chocolate pieces

Preparation
Step 1
Heat oven to 375°
Mix shortening, sugars, egg, and vanilla thoroughly. Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting. (For a softer rounder cookie add ¼ c more flour.) Stir dry ingredients together; blend in. Mix in nuts and chocolate pieces. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough about 2” apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 min, or until delicately browned. (Cookies should still be soft.) Cool slightly before removing cookies from baking sheet.
Makes 4 to 5 dozen 2” cookies
*When tripling the batch just use 1 12oz. package of chocolate and 1c of nuts*
