Ingredients
- 6 sheets phyllo dough
- 3 apples, peeled and cored
- ½ cup sugar
- ¼ cup walnuts
- 1 tsp. lemon rind
- ½ tsp. cinnamon
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1/3 cup bread crumbs
Preparation
Step 1
Finely chop the apples, toss with the sugar, nuts, rind, and cinnamon. Place 1 sheet of pastry dough on a tea towel and brush with melted butter and sprinkle 1 tbs. crumbs on top. Repeat with remaining phyllo dough, ending with the crumbs. Place the apple filling onto the dough and roll. Place onto greased baking sheet, seam side down. Brush strudel with melted butter and cut 6 slits on top. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 – 35 minutes. Sift icing sugar over the top of the cooled strudel.
