MINI CHICKEN SAUSAGE MEATBALLS WITH GNOCCHI & TOMATO SAUCE

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pound ground chicken or turkey
  • 1 tablespoon grill seasoning (Montreal steak seasoning by McCormick)
  • 1 teaspoon, 1/3 palm full, fennel seeds
  • 1 cup, 20 basil leaves fresh
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, optional
  • 1-28 ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • 1-8 ounce can tomato sauce
  • Pepper
  • 1 pound gnocchi
  • Grated Parmigiano-Reggiano
  • crusty bread

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

1. bring a pot of water to boil for gnocchi. Salt water but wait a while to drop in gnocchi.
2. place chicken in a medium bowl with grill seasoning and fennel seeds.
3. Roll basil leaves then slice thinly
4. Add half basil to the bowl.
5. Drizzle oil over the bowl.
6. Mix chicken together and form little meatballs. Place on cookie sheet sprayed with pam.
7. Bake 400 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or until firm and lightly golden.

Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add oil and garlic, onions, and grill seansoning. Cook until tender, about 5 to 6 minutes. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce.

Drop gnocchi in boiling water and cook to package diretions.

Finish sauce with fresh basil.

Serve cheese over top of mixture.
