Cherries Regalis

This is an old recipe mom used to fix. Excellent over Vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (1 lb. 14 oz.) Bing (dark sweet) cherries
  • 4 t. Cornstarch
  • 1/3 c. Sugar, granulated
  • 1/8 t, salt
  • ½ tsp lemon peel, finely shredded
  • ¼ cup brandy

Preparation

Step 1

Drain cherries, reserving about 1-1/4 cup.

Combine cornstarch, sugar,. Salt and lemon peel. Mix into syrup and cook until thickened, stirring constantly.

Remove from heat. Blend in brandy and let cool. Spoon over ice cream.

Sprinkle with shaved almonds. 6 servings


Note: You can light the sauce before serving. Then it becomes Flaming Cherries Regalis
