  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cream of Tarter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2/3 cup cold milk


Servings 10


Step 1

Stir together flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tarter and salt. Cut in shortening till mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Make a well in center, add milk all at once. stir just until dough clings together.
Knead gently on lightly floured surface, 10 to 12 tstrokes.
Roll or pat to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with 2 1/2 inch Biscuit cutter.
Transfer to ungreased baking sheet.
Bake in 450 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
serve warm.
