Baked Macaroni and Cheese

  • 4 tbsp flour
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 4 cups milk
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp pepper
  • 1 pound macaroni
  • Dash of white pepper (to taste)
  • 1 1/2 cups white cheddar crackers
  • 1 block cracker barrel cheese (white vermont), shredded
  • 1 block cracker barrel (extra sharp cheddar), shredded
  • 1 block cracker barrel (white cheddar), shredded
  • 1 block cracker barrel (white aged reserved), shredded
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese



Step 1

Melt butter in medium sauce pan. Add flour and stir until mixed. Add salt, pepper, white pepper, and milk, slowly. Heat, stirring constantly, until thickened. Remove from heat. When thickened consistency, add half of the shredded cheese, and stir until melted. Cook the macaroni according to directions on package. Drain macaroni. Mix macaroni and cheese sauce together. Place half of the mixture in a 2 quart casserole baking dish. Sprinkle 1/2 of remaining cheese over macaroni layer. Cover with remaining macaroni mixture, and end up with the remaining cheese. Mix cracker crumbs and parmesan cheese, and sprinkle mixture over cheese layer. Bake in oven at 350 for about 45 minutes, or until bubbly and golden.
