Preparation

Step 1

This will fill a cookie sheet with a lip to top of lip

Pour 1 1/4 cup of real maple syrup over top, then mix so each nut is
lightly coated – you may add another quarter cup if all are not coated

Smooth nuts down so top surface is flat

Bake for about an hour. It could be longer or less as every oven is different so keep a close eye on them as they burn easily and quickly. Take out of oven and stir about every 15 minutes. I actually check mine every 10 minutes in the gas oven at Tahoe as it seems to cook hotter. They are done when they are light brown and most of the syrup is gone and doesn’t pool in the bottom of the pan.

Cool for a few minutes but as soon as you can transfer into another bowl as if you leave them in the cookie sheet they will stick together. If this happens, just put back in the oven for a couple of minutes, until they are warm again and then transfer.

You may also lightly salt if desired but it really isn't necessary.
