Country Scalloped Potatoes
By Addie
Ordinary scalloped potatoes become extraordinary when they're made with ham, onion and a creamy cheese sauce. They make an appetizing addition to just about any meal.
MY NOTES: One pound of potatoes yields about three cups of peeled & sliced potatoes, so weigh 1 2/3 pounds of potatoes for this recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Cream of Celery Soup
- 1 can (10 1/2 ounces) Chicken Gravy
- 1 cup milk
- 5 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced (about 5 cups)
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced (about 1/4 cup)
- 2 1/2 cups diced cooked ham
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (about 4 ounces)
Preparation
Step 1
1. Stir the soup, gravy and milk in a small bowl. Layer half the potatoes, onion, ham and soup mixture in a 3-quart shallow baking dish. Repeat the layers. Cover the baking dish.
2. Bake at 375°F. for 40 minutes. Uncover and bake for 25 minutes. Top with the cheese. Bake for 5 minutes or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is melted. Let stand for 10 minutes.

The BEST scalloped potatoes ever!! Super easy to make, slicing the potatoes took the longest. My family loved it!!
It's a 5 star dish!
Very good indeed, I'll be making this at least twice a week. My family loves it.
Excellent!!! Will definitely make this over and over.
I love this recipe, its' so easy and great!!! I make it every other week.
Everyone raved about these potatoes. I was not sure that they would be as good as "mom used to make," but everyone raved over them....I'd make them again in a heartbeat.
It was very good! I used Cream of Mushroom soup instead of Cream of Celery, and a quarter of a cup of Chicken Broth. I also sauteed the onion with celery, green pepper and garlic, then I added a cup of frozen peas. The family loved it, We will be making this again!
It's an excellent recipe and it tastes amazing. My family approves. You can even change things up; switch the soup, you can experiment. Overall, it's a crowd pleaser!
It's a great side to start off the New Year!
Yummy, yummy, yummy, yummy. You must send it to all your friends!

This taste soooo good!!
Great recipe, very easy to make and very tasty. The family fell in love with this dish.
My family loved these. I made them as a side dish for our Easter dinner and they were a hit!!
These are the best scalloped potatoes I've ever had.
I made this last night for my family. The kids were not really impressed but my husband and my brother loved it. Went back for seconds and took the rest to work today. I did not have ham on hand so I fried a few pieces of bacon and used that instead. I definitely had to season the potatoes I can not imagine how bland it would have been if I hadn't. The only thing I would really change or add is I would put cheese on both layers and not just the top layer I think it would have made a big difference. It also took way longer to cook than listed or expected. Overall I would make it again with a few minor changes
This is FANTASTIC!! I only added garlic to it and it was a BIG hit with my family!! Am making it again for St. Patrick's Day by special request!!
Family loved it. So easy to make. Followed directions but put a little more ham in it.
Soooooooooooo good! I made it according to instructions except for the gravy...(didn't have any on hand). Never-the-less, I don't think it could have possibly been any better!
I am so glad I tried this recipe! It is very good!! I used leftover spiral ham I had in the freezer. I used a combination of mild cheddar and cheddar with monteray jack (Mexican blend) cheese just because that's what I had on hand. I added a little garlic powder, cracked black pepper and a dash of dry mustard. I thought it might make way too much but we only had one small serving leftover. I served this as a main dish with cucumber salad on the side. Just a wonderful meal, a real keeper!
