Cranberry Date Scones

Ingredients
- Garnish:
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- pinch of salt
- zest of 2 lemons
- 3/4 cup cold butter chopped
- 3/4 cup cranberries
- 2/3 cup chopped dates
- 1 cup cold buttermilk
- 4 tsp sugar
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup mace

Preparation
Step 1
1. Preheat oven to 400F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Sift flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add lemon zest and mix til combined.
3. Add butter and mix til resembles course meal. Scrape into large bowl and toss with cranberries and dates. Add buttermilk and stir until dough forms. Turn dough out onto a clean surface and knead until comes together. Divide dough into 4 sections and pat into 5 " rounds. Cut each round into 6 wedges and arrange wedges 1/2" apart on baking sheet.
4. In a small bowl, combine 4 tsp sugar, cinnamon, and mace. Sprinkle sugar mixture over scones. Bake scones in middle oven for about 20 minutes or until goldenand cooked through.
