Orange Zested Cranberry & White Chocolate Scones

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 C. Flour
  • 1/4 C. Sugar + 2 Tbsp. for dusting
  • 2 1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 6 Tbsp. chilled unsalted butter
  • (decrease salt if you only have salted butter)
  • 1/4 C Sour Cream
  • 6 Tbsp. Milk
  • 1 Large egg beaten
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • Zest of one orange
  • 1/2 C dried cranberries
  • 1/2 C white chocolate chips

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

In a large bowl with your hands or mixer cut together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and butter.

In a separate bowl whisk together egg, milk, sour cream, vanilla and orange zest.

Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients a little at a time along with dried cranberries and white chocolate chips until dough forms.

Turn dough out onto floured surface and knead for 2 minutes. Dough will be sticky.

Separate prepared dough into two pieces and pat into round form approximately 1/2 inch thick.

Transfer rounds to parchment lined cookie sheets and cut into 6 wedges using pizza cutter or long chefs knife. Sprinkle tops with sugar and separate wedges on cookie sheet.

Bake for 16 - 20 minutes until golden brown.
