Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups sifted flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1 stick butter, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- Royal Frosting, optional
Preparation
Step 1
Sift flour, baking soda and spices onto wax paper. Beat oleo, sugar and egg in large bowl till fluffly. Beat in syrup, honey and vinegar. Stir in flour mixture until soft dough forms. Refrigerate several hours.
Roll out dough, a little at a time, on lightly floured surface to 1/8" thick. Cut into shapes with floured cutters. Place on lightly greased cookie sheets (or parchment lined) 1/2 inches apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 6 minutes or till firm and light brown. Cool on wire racks. Decorate with royal icing, if desired.
