Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 2 cups unroasted peanuts
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon butter
- 1/4 teaspoon soda
Preparation
Step 1
Combine sugar, syrup and water in heavy skillet. Cook slowly, stirring till sugar dissolves. Cook to soft-ball stage. Add peanuts and salt. Cook to hard-crack stage, stirring constantly (remove from stove while testing). Add butter and soda; stir to blend (mixture will bubble). Pour onto buttered cookie sheet. Cool partially by lifting around edges with spatula. Keep spatula moving so it won't stick. When firm but still warm, turn over; pull edges to make brittle thinner in center. Break in peices when cold.
