Orange Walnut Pie Crust

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unbleached white flour
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat pastry flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange rind
  • 4 tablespoon chilled butter
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons very cold orange juice

Preparation

Step 1

In a medium-sized bowl, combine flours. Add the walnuts and orange rind, and mix well. Cut the butter into the flour mixture until it is well blended. A food processor equipped with a chopping blade works well. Add just enough orange juice to form a moist but not wet dough. form the dough into a ball, wrap in plastic, and chill 1 hour. Roll out the dough to fit into a 10-inch pie plate.
