  • 2/3 c boiling water
  • 3/4 t salt
  • 1/2 t baking powder
  • 1/2 t ginger
  • 1/4 t cloves
  • 1/2 t cinnamon
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 2 1/2 c flour

Step 1

Beat eggs.
Mix in molasses.

Sift all dry ingredients together.

Melt shortening (not butter) in boiling water.

Add dry ingredients to egg mix.

Add melted shortening last.

Grese and flour 8 x 8" pan.
