Ingredients
- 1 tsp. olive oil
- 1 c. chopped onion
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 c. dry red wine, or 2 tbsp. balsamic vinegar
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. dried basil
- 2 tbsp. tomato paste
- 1/2 tsp. dried Italian seasoning
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 2 (14.5 oz) cans diced tomatoes, undrained
- 2 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley

Step 1
1. Heat oil in a saucepan or large skillet over med-high heat. Add onion and garlic; saute 5 mins. Stir in wine and next 6 ingredients (wine through tomatoes), and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium, and cook, uncovered, about 15 mins.
Yield: 3 c. Serving size 1 c.
