Ingredients

  • Crust:
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • Filling:
  • 1 300mL can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 tbsp corn syrup
  • 4 squres semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1 tbsp butter

Preparation

Step 1

Crust:
Combine flour and sugar, cut in butter until mixture resemlbes course meal. Press into an 8x8 pan and bake at 350F for 20 minutes.

Filling:
Combine milk, sugar, butter and corn syrup in a heavy pan. Cook and stir over low heat until sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes.
Bring to a boil over medium heat to avoid scorching and boil, stirring constantly for 8-10 minutes or until mixture thickens slightly and turns a caramel colour. Remove from heat and spread over base. Chill.
Melt chocolate and butter, spread over caramel layer. Garnish with pecans if desired.
