Ingredients

  • Dough:

    cups flour

    tbsp. shortening

  • 2-3

    large eggs

    cup milk

    Tbsp. sugar

    cups warm water

  • Filling:

  • 1/2

    medium chicken, or 3 large chicken breasts

    med. Onions. Or 3 large

  • 3

    medium potatoes

  • 2/3

    cup sugar

  • 1/2

    cup shortening

  • 2

    pkg gelatin dissolved in 2 cups of hot water with 2 chicken bullion cubes.

    tsp pepper, cumin, turmeric, oregano, cayenne pepper and salt

Directions

Dough: Prepare the dough the day before. Mix together all the ingredients. Knead, wrap in a damp cloth and leave it in the refrigerator overnight. Filling: Boil the chicken in enough water to cover it. Do not salt. in another pan boil the potatoes in their skins. Wash the onions and mince onion; sauté in hot shortening,When the chicken is fully cooked, de-bone and dice. When the potato is cooked peel and shred into another bowl. to the sautéed onion add some of the chicken broth. Let it come to a boil, then add the seasonings, Let mixture cool and keep in the refrigerator over night. Divide crust dough into small balls the size of a fist, cover with plastic and refrigerate overnight. Next day bring pastry to room temperature, roll into small circles, Add some filling and a slice of hard boiled egg. Seal, glaze with slightly-beaten egg and 1 tsp paprika, and bake at 400 for 20-30 min, until golden brown.
