Ingredients
- one large bunch of fresh basil
- 28 oz. tomatoes puree, Italian style
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon corn starch
- 1/4 cup water
- 3/4 cup whipping cream
Preparation
Step 1
Finely chop basil leaves. Add chopped basil, tomato puree, butter, salt, and sugar to a medium size saucepan and cook over medium heat. Mix corn starch and water separately in a small bowl. When the tomato mixture is hot and the butter melted, stir in the corn starch mixture and heat to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer briefly to thicken slightly. Just before serving, add the cream and heat to serving temperature. Do not boil. Serves 2 - 3.
